Italy, Bulgaria To Contest 9th Place

Italy pulled out a 73-71 win over Sweden thanks to some last second heroics from Martina Crippa and will now play Bulgaria for the ninth place in the U20 European Championship Women 2009. 

Danielle Hamilton-Carter (14 points) hit one-of-two free throws with :23 seconds left to put Sweden ahead 71-70.

Poland Hold Off Sweden, Advance To Quarter-Finals

Poland outlasted Sweden 84-79 to grab the final spot in Quarter-Finals of the U20 European Championship Women 2009.

Poland won thanks to an unlikely star.  Reserve guard Olivia Tomialowicz came off the pine in the second quarter to score a game-high 29 points.

Lithuania Better Sweden To Stay In The Race

Gintare Petronyte pulled out some late-game heroics to guide her Lithuania to a 75-66 win over Sweden and keep alive their slim hopes of reaching the Quarter-Finals of the U20 European Championship Women 2009. 

"This victory was very important but we think that tomorrow is the most important game," said the FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year.

Latvia Accelerate Past Sweden

Latvia ran Sweden off the court 89-70 to go 3-0 and book an early ticket for the Quarter-Finals of the U20 European Championship Women in Gdynia, Poland.

Eleven of the 12 Latvian players who stepped on the court scored the ball at least once.
