Sweden Grab Fifth From Russia

Cleopatra Forsman B. Goga collected 10 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five steals as Sweden captured a best-ever fifth-place showing at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women by beating Russia 60-55.

Amanda Zahui Bazoukou had 16 points and 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the U16 event.

Sweden Hold Off Hosts, Play For Fifth

Sweden will play for fifth place at the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women after holding hosts Latvia scoreless for nearly the final four minutes in collecting 55-47 victory.

Cleopatra Forsman B. Goga scored 14 points while Farhiya Abdi had 11 points and Amanda Zahui Bazoukou's 14 rebound helped the Swedes to a 42-30 rebounding advantage.

Sweden End Group Games On Winning Note

Sweden did their part in keeping alive their chances of making the semi-finals of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women with a comfortable 60-48 victory over Belarus.

But the Swedes, who were led by 20 points and 10 rebounds from Cleopatra Forsman B. Goga, were forced to wait until the results of the day's later games to see how successful their return to Europe's top flight would be.

Sweden Pip Czechs To Complicate Group

The Czech Republic remained in good position to progress to the semi-finals of the Termosteps U16 European Championship Women despite losing 65-59 to Sweden in Group E.

The 2006 finalists Czech Republic dropped to 3-1 but will advance to Saturday's semis if they beat Serbia on Thursday. They can also move into the top four with a loss against the Serbs and a combination of results in the group.
