Spain Advance To Semis

Laura Herrera scored 14 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished 3 assists in Spain's 62-54 defeat of Hungary at the Umcor U18 European Championship Women on Wednesday.

The victory guarantees Spain a berth in Saturday's semi-finals, while Hungary will play for positions 5-8.

Hungary stayed close in the first half behind strong play from Fanni Hutlassa (8 points). They also got some valuable scoring from the bench in the form of reserve Erika Völgyi who also had 8 points.

Spain led 32-31 at the half, but built a 10-point lead in the third period.

Tamara Abalde led the way for the Spanish as she scored 7 of her 10 points in a 12-4 run to close the quarter to put her side up 51-41.

Miguel Martinez's side had no problem protecting their lead in the final 10 minutes and completed an easy win.

Rebounding was a key component in Spain's win as they grabbed 54 boards to Hungary's 33.
