José Calderón - EuroBasket 2013 Profile

Team 2012-13: Detroit Pistons (USA-NBA)
Career: Alicante (Spain-LEB, 1999-00); Alicante (Spain-ACB, 2000-01); Fuenlabrada (Spain-ACB, 2001-02); Tau Ceramica Vitoria (Spain-ACB, 2002-05); Toronto Raptors (USA-NBA, 2005-13); Detroit Pistons (USA-NBA, 2013-13)

After more than 10 years of stability, Calderon suddenly found himself moving teams mid-season as he was traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Detroit Pistons. The playmaker had spent the past seven full seasons in Toronto after playing the previous four campaigns before that with Vitoria in Spain. The veteran went about his business after the move and improved his stats in nearly every category in Detroit. Despite having reached the other side of 30 years, Calderon can still lead an offence with the best of them. He also improved his three-point shooting accuracy and can be a weapon from long range. With Spain missing some of their big leaders, Calderon will likely have to take on more responsibility offensively if Espana hope to collect a third straight European gold medal. Calderon, who will play next season with the Dallas Mavericks, has captured at least gold or silver in his last five tournaments with the national team.
