A last seconds tip-in completed a huge come back and gave Spain a big 50-48 win over Serbia in the opening game of Group E in the Qualifying Round.
Pedro Farina was the hero of the day with the winning tip but much more than that.
With the win Spain took a 2-1 record while Serbia dropped to 1-2 and will have to fight hard to make the semi-finals.
Farina wrote a huge performance as the top scorer, top rebounder and top shot blocker of his team with 15 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.
Joan Tomas added 14 points and ten rebounds and Miguel Servera scored 10.
Strahinja Mladenovic scored 13 for Serbia and Djordje Drenovac added 12.
The Spanish side had the upper hand in the first half, but Serbia made a run in the third to take the lead.
With a nine point lead and less than eight minutes to go Serbia seemed on the path to the win before Farina stepped up.
Spain made an 11-0 run in those last eight minutes and Farina produced in that period eight points, five rebounds and two blocks including the winning tip-in of course.
Tomas and Servera led the Spanish run early in the second quarter to give their team a 26-14 lead, before entering the break with a 30-19 lead.
Serbia's defense didn't allow points in the first five and a half minutes of the second half and Mladenovic was in charge of 14 unanswered points his team combined to take the lead.
Serbia stayed on top and reached the mentioned nine point lead, before watching Spain and Farina stun with a shocking come back all the way to the win.
Tomorrow Spain will face the surprising team from the Czech Republic while Serbia will face a difficult task against Lithuania.
