For the third time ever Spain has won the bronze medal in the U20 European Championship Men after a 91-72 victory over Turkey on Sunday night in Riga.
This generation of Spain also won the bronze medal two years ago in the 2006 U18 European Championship.
Lithuania is the second finalist of the 2008 U20 European Championship Men in Riga after an energy consuming 96-79 win over Spain.
Lithuania enjoyed the support of several hundred fans who made the short trip from the south to push their team into the finals, but Spain played with no set backs.
Often teams owe their success not only to their top players, but to one back up who came from the bench in a crucial time, and saved his team from early elimination.
If Spain wins a medal in Riga a big part of it will belong to back up guard Marc Rubio.
A huge second half comeback, behind a 24-2 run, allowed Spain to beat Russia 78-71 and stay in the race for the semi-finals from Group F.
Spain climbed to a 3-2 record and will wait for the future results of the day to know their destiny.
