A New Identity For European Women's Basketball

The U18 European Championship Women taking place in Nitra, Slovakia this week is a showcase for some of the best basketball talent in Europe.  It also highlights the growth of the women's game and the steps taken by FIBA Europe to give European Women's basketball its own identity as decided by the Board of FIBA Europe on 11th November 2007.

Two teams competing in Nitra: Romania and Ukraine are wearing a new uniform designed by the manufacturer TUTA in cooperation with FIBA Europe.

Czech Republic Soar Past Romania
The Czech Republic's full-court pressure defense and fast-paced offense proved too much to handle for Romania who were beaten 105-63 at the U18 European Championship for Women.

Romania - who  needed a win to have a chance of moving on to the qualifying round -made a strong push by scoring the first eight points of the third quarter and close within eight, 50-42. But the Czechs quickly regained their composure and doubled their intensity on defense to have the game all but wrapped up with a 70-49 as they headed into the final frame.
