Diaconu, the third option at the point guard position, is back with the National Team after an absence that was due to her refusing to play for Romania at the 2005 World Francophonia Games. She is now back with her National Team and enters EuroBasket Women 2007 on the heels of a good season with her club side, Olimpia Bucharest. Her team finished third in the Romanian league and Diaconu averaged 10.6 point per game in both the regular season and the playoffs. Her playing time will probably be limited at this year’s EuroBasket Women as she will battle Annemarie Parau and Ancuta Stoenescu for a place in the team.
