Ivo Garic picked up four steals for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the win over Romania

Bosnia and Herzegovina improved to 2-2 to keep their hopes for Second Round alive in Group C of the U16 European Championship Division B on Sunday with a 75-66 win over Romania.

The victors had a great start, leading 17-8 by the end of the first quarter and looked to be headed for an easy victory after going on top by 19 in the second.

Romania gave themselves a shot at victory with a terrific third quarter comeback.

They pulled to within 52-50 when Marius Ciotlaus buried a three-ball with just under three minutes to go in the frame.

They ended up pouring in 26 points in the period but Bosnia and Herzegovina kept their noses in front and went to the fourth in front, 59-53.

With 3:32 remaining, Ciotlaus hit a jumper to cut the gap to 65-62.

Aleksandar Lazic replied with two straight baskets for Bosnia and Herzegovina, though, and they held on for a hard-fought victory.

Lazic had 17 points while Ciotlaus scored a game-high 29 in defeat.

Romania slipped to 0-3 in the tournament.

Sweden, Montenegro and Portugal remained perfect with big wins.

In Group A, Ludvig Hakanson poured in 26 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and handed out five assists as Sweden prevailed 85-49 over Luxembourg.

The Swedes took control early, leading 19-12 at the end of the opening quarter and stretching that to 40-28 at half-time.

Luxembourg battled but fell further behind in the third quarter before Sweden put an exclamation mark on the triumph by pouring in 30 fourth-quarter points.

In Group C, Montenegro were emphatic winners over Estonia.

Lazar Pavicevic and Nemanja Vuksanovic each had 14 points for the Montenegrins in an 83-45 rout.

Already with a 19-8 lead after the first quarter, Montenegro blew the game wide open in the second frame by outscoring the Estonians, 30-5.

In Group D, Portugal prevailed 72-38 over Switzerland in a battle of unbeatens.

9. Rochdi Benzouien (Belgium)
Rochdi Benzouien and Belgium came out on top of Slovakia on Day 4

Luis Camara led a balanced Portuguese attack with 14 points.

Also in Group D, Hungary won their third game of the tournament, beating the Netherlands 66-55.

György Golomán was terrific for Hungary, scoring 24 points and pulling down 15 rebounds.

In Group B, Ordane Kanda-Kanyinda had 16 points and seven rebounds as Belgium won 67-59 over the Slovak Republic.

In the last games of the day, Israel met Belarus and rolled to a 77-56 Group A triumph with Roman Sorkin's 17 points leading the way.

In Group B, F.Y.R. of Macedonia won 89-75 over Bulgaria with Kristijan Nikolov scoring 27 points, Andrej Magdevski pouring in 23 and handing out 10 assists and Andrej Cvetkovski adding 19 points and eight rebounds.
