Though Mirela Bagiu played for the National Team at EuroBasket Women 2005, she was not selected for the qualifying round campaign for the 2007 edition. However, the Botosani native is expected to be on the roster for the final round after having a very good season with Olimpia Bucuresti. Playing an important role in the regular rotation of her club, Mirela Bagiu improved her stats in the domestic league, averaging 10.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. She was also selected to the All-Star game where she was a legitimate candidate for the MVP as she finished with 16 points, 12 of which came via four three-pointers.
