If Jose Costa gets to step out at Eurobasket 2011, he could be the oldest player at the tournament as he turns 38 years of age later this year. Not that this is likely to deter Coach Palma who knows Costa brings so many positives to the roster. Not only is he yet another valuable veteran with a raft of pro-experience stretching back some 17 years, he is a genuine point guard who can create shots for the team. He also can help scoring in a number of different ways, as shown during the failed qualification for EuroBasket 2009, when he put up some big numbers to reflect his capabilities. A near perennial All Star of the Portuguese League, Costa is a quality player and having stepped out 14 years ago for his country, a first major tournament to end his career at the elite level would be quite something - especially after missing the EuroBasket 2007 Final Round.
