France Winning Streak Continues

France showed their U18 European Championship Women 2010 potential by beating a fighting Poland side 66-56, behind Hélèna Akmouche's 19 points.

Poland was led by Magdalena Zietara who had 19 points and four rebounds.

Both teams started with a hard defense and were tied 15-15 after the first quarter.

Lucie Barba got her team going with a penetration and Akmouche's second chance basket gave France a 22-16 lead after three minutes in the second quarter.

Les Bleues continued to push the ball inside to Eléonore Grossemy and her jumper gave France their first double digit lead (24-35) early in the second quarter.

Poland tried to solve their poor shooting from outside the arc and reduced the deficit to 46-49 after Zietara made a three-pointer and Agata Szczepanik converted a penetration into three-point play.

But Akmouche found her shooting touch in a key 12-0 fourth quarter run when she made a pair of jumpers and hit a triple to finish the job for France.
