Poland Shake Off Latvia Comeback To Progress



Paulina Kuras made key free throws in the final seconds and led Poland with 15 points to a 59-52 victory against Latvia and her team into the Qualifying Round of the U18 European Championship Women 2010 in Slovakia.

Poland looked more aggressive and gained a 10-point lead mid-first quarter on a Karolina Wilk jumper .

Kristiana Pumpure made a three-pointer to reduce the deficit to single digits and left Latvia trailing 26-35 after two quarters.

Kristiana Stauere's shot from downtown made it 51-51 with less then three minutes to go in the final quarter, but Kuras kept her cool and made all her foul shots at the end to make sure of the Polish victory.
