A minute's silence will be observed prior to the EuroBasket Group D opener between Bulgaria and Poland following the boating tragedy at Lake Ohrid that claimed the lives of at least 15 Bulgarians.

Monday has been declared a national day of mourning in Bulgaria.

"We are very saddened by this tragedy," said Bulgaria basketball team manager Rosen Barchovski.

"We feel for the victims' families."

The accident took place on Saturday in Lake Ohrid, located along the mountaneous border between the Former Yugoslavia Republic of Macedonia and Albania.

The Bulgarian government plane that carried the national team to Wrocklaw was sent to FYR Macedonia to bring back survivors.
