Gruszecki was the greatest surprise of the past season in the Polish Tauron Basket Liga. He was nearly totally forgotten in Poland after he decided to leave for the United States as a teenager, having previously been a member of various youth national teams. His path led through junior college, then a little-heard-off NCAA college to Belgium, where he was a marginal player for Eurocup club Charleroi. After another Polish player at Energa Czarni Slupsk got injured in March 2014, the team looked for a replacement and that is how Gruszecki arrived back to Poland. However, he failed to impress in a handful of games in 2014, but he spent the summer working hard and came back stronger than ever, adding further skills to his repertoire, by becoming a complete player at both ends of the floor. He was the leading scorer of the bronze-medal winning team of the PLK and his flashy style and great accuracy impressed Coach Taylor, who has gone with him ahead of several more experience players on the same spot.
