Adam Waczynski - EuroBasket 2013 Profile

Team 2012-13: Trefl Sopot (Poland-PLK)
Career: WAX Torun (Poland, up to 2005); Prokom Trefl Sopot (Poland-PLK, 2005-08); Gornik Walbrzych (Poland-PLK, 2008-09); PBG Basket Poznan (Poland-PLK, 2009-10); Trefl Sopot (Poland-PLK, since 2010)

You can easily describe Adam Waczynski's 2012/13 season by saying: "Finally, he grew up." Always talented, multi-skilled and a "do-it-all" type of player, in the past few years he seemed overwhelmed and not physically ready to play at a higher level. Not anymore. Playing for Trefl Sopot in the Polish League and Eurocup, he scored important baskets inside and out, improved his body structure, outside shooting and decision making and suddenly - in a team full of veterans - he was "The One" at 24. Trefl won the Polish Cup in February with Waczynski being named MVP and finished second in the regular season of the league, only to mysteriously lose to 7th-seed AZS Koszalin in the quarter-finals. Still, Waczynski showed enough for Coach Bauermann to leave the impression, that he may be the best hidden secret of Polish basketball. We'll see if his breakthrough is valid also at EuroBasket level.
