With 22 points and 10 rebounds, Rasmus Larsen was doing his best to give Denmark what would have been a famous victory, including providing his only assist of the night on a Gabriel Lundberg three-pointer which handed the Danish the lead with three-and-a-half minutes remaining.
But after helping put his team in the lead, Larsen was not able to help his team keep it, missing his four final shots as France restricted the Danes to two points in the last three minutes.
Germany were not having everything go their own way however, finding themselves trailing by two points going into the final quarter after being restricted to five points in the third period.
However, it was Poland's turn to struggle offensively in the final quarter as they managed just four points in the first five minutes, allowing Germany to escape with the win.
Poland's Jarkub Garbacz lead all scoring with 14 points.
On Tuesday, Germany take on France and Denmark play Poland.
