Ponitka was the leader of the team which finished second at the FIBA U17 World Championship in Hamburg five years ago. It was a great achievement and simply a sign of bigger things to come for the swingman. He enjoyed an early debut in the national team, became a champion of Poland with Gdynia, and established himself in Belgium's Oostende over the past two years, winning two titles and becoming the top scorer of the team in the League last season. Last year he was a key piece of coach Taylor's team in the Second Qualification Round, stealing the ball, running, and dunking over people. His energy is endless and even if his dream of being selected in the NBA Draft never materialised despite numerous workouts with NBA teams this summer, he will for sure remain focused on building his career in Europe and with the national team.
