| 14.07.2011 U20 MEN DIVISION B The U20 European Championship Men Division B opened on Thursday in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Day One was almost equally split between thrillers and blowouts as four games were decided by no more than a 4-point gap while five others saw a double-digit difference at the final buzzer. In Group A, Poland edged F.Y.R. of Macedonia 74-71 to grab their first win, Estonia smashed Romania 85-50 while Georgia beat Switzerland 82-74 behind 31 points by Tornike Shengelia. Group B saw Slovak Republic stun Netherlands 57-55 as Richard Grznar scored 26 points for the winners. Denmark had the upper hand against Hungary with a 57-42 win. In the Group C the big blow out of Day 1 was when the Czech Republic dominated Luxembourg 127-60 as seven players scored in double-digits. Portugal bettered Great Britain 60-57 while Finland didn't work hard against their another Scandinavian team - Norway - with an 80-55 win. In Group D Belgium ran over Belarus 76-50 behind a 3rd quarter run while the local team of Bosnia and Herzegovina came close to losing to Iceland yet eventually pulled an 82-78 victory behind 24 points by Dino Begagic. |
