Marta Claret had reason to smile as she scored 14 points to help Spain win their fourth consecutive game
It may have been the start of the Second Round at the U20 European Championship Women but Spain simply picked up where they left off during the first three days of action with a comprehensive 70-41 Group E win against the Netherlands.
And, their fourth win since touching down in Debrecen was every bit as impressive as their previous trio of victories with the Dutch unable to make any impression on what is rapidly looking a water-tight Spanish defence.
Spain held their opponent to just seven points in the first period to set the tone and while the Netherlands managed to more than double their tally during the second quarter, Spain cruised into a 37-22 half-time lead.
With Queralt Casas continuing to revel in her role as the heartbeat of the Spanish team, it was difficult for the Dutch to find a route back into the game.
And, any remote possibility of an unlikely comeback was swiftly extinguished when they took to the court after the interval as Spain recorded a 20-7 run.
Casas was again terrific with 16 points off six of seven floor shooting while Andrea Vilaro and Marta Claret both did some efficient business from the perimeter, especially the latter who hit four triples.
