Bulgaria Win Title, Ivanov MVP

Deyan Karamfilov and Aleks Simeonov combined for six free throws in the final 24 seconds and four players scored in double figures as hosts Bulgaria held on to beat Denmark 70-68 to claim the title at the U18 European Championship Men Division B.

Pavlin Ivanov scored 10 points in securing the Most Valuable Player award for the tournament. Rounding out the team were Denmark's Rasmus Larsen and Esben Reinholt as well as the Swedish duo of William Magarity and Tobias Borg.

Bulgaria nearly gave away a 19-point lead and watched as Denmark cut their 14-point advantage at the start of the fourth quarter to two points with more than four minutes to play.

But Bulgaria held on for the victory with Dimitar Dimitrov finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Tencho Tenchev and Simeonov both scored 12 points. The Bulgarians did not lose a single game in the tournament.

Denmark, who will join Bulgaria in Division A next summer, lost just twice in the tournament, both times to the hosts.

Kevin Larsen had 14 points and 14 rebounds while Peter Moeller collected 15 points, six rebounds and four assists and Soeren Olsen added 13 points. Reinholt chipped in 10 points while Rasmus Larsen - was held to eight points and seven rebounds.

In the bronze medal game, Magarity and Borg combined for all nine points in a crucial 9-1 run in the final three minutes in giving Sweden a 71-65 victory over Montenegro.

Kevin Liivamägi and Oliver Metsalu each scored 16 points as Estonia held on for a 63-62 victory over the Netherlands in the fifth place game with Mike Schilder missing a potential game-winner three-pointer at the buzzer for the Dutch.

Or Solomon collected 27 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists in leading Israel to a 96-68 victory over Hungary to finish in seventh place.

Belgium took ninth place with a 69-54 victory over Slovakia with Gerald Henrard collecting 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Andrei Petica scored 23 points and Alexandru Olah had 17 points and 20 rebounds in guiding Romania to a 72-46 win over Portugal to grab 11th place.

Branislav Kostic's 17 points paced five players in double figures as Switzerland beat England 71-61 to claim 13th place.
