Swedish international Dino Pita was instrumental in taking the Kings to glory in the Swedish Basketligan

Södertälje Kings have defeated the Sundsvall Dragons 4-2 in the play-off finals to claim the second Swedish Basketligan title in their history.

The Kings, who had competed in the EuroChallege Regular Season, prevailed 109-104 after overtime in the decisive sixth game of the series to go one step further than last season, when they had finished as runners-up to the Norrköping Dolphins.

Croatian-born forward Toni Bizaca, who had 23 points and eight rebounds for the Kings in Game 6, was named Basketligan Season MVP.

The Kings got important contributions in the title decider from a duo of young Swedish internationals, as 24-year-old Dino Pita finished the game with 13 points and four rebounds and 19-year-old guard Tobias Borg had 12 points and four rebounds.

Icelandic international Jakob Sigurdarson meanwhile led the Dragons in scoring with 27 points while another up-and-coming Swedish youngster, small forward Anton Gaddefors, had 16 points and five rebounds in a losing effort.
