Krasnye Krylia wrapped up second spot in Group I with a comfortable 84-68 victory at Proteas EKA AEL. Neither side had a lot to play for in the game, with hosts Proteas already consigned to bottom spot and Russians Krylia having already secured their place as runners-up. Andrey Ivanov led Krylia with 15 points, with Marcus Douthit and L Flores each adding 12 for the visitors. However, it was Jeremiah Davis who led all scorers with 17 points for the home side, with Michalis Kounounis finishing on 15 and Ilian Evtimov hit 13. Douthit o pened the scoring for Krylia, and they always looked in control as a Gennadiy Zelenskiy lay-up put them 11-4 up at the midway stage of the first period. The visitors remained comfortably ahead during the rest of the quarter, and an Andrey Ivanov trey with nine seconds remaining sent them into the first break with a 22-11 lead. Ivanov opened the second period with another score from downtown, and although the home side replied with a brief 6-2 run, a buzzer-beating dunk from Evgeny Voronov sent Krylia into the locker room leading 48-30. Little changed in the second half, with Douthit again scoring the first points of the half, and the visitors outscored Proteas 18-16 to take a 64-46 lead into the final period. The closest the home side came in the final period was when Evtimov - who finished with 13 rebounds - hit a free-throw to make it 79-68 with 62 seconds remaining, but Krylia scored the final five points of the game to wrap up the win. |
