Dexia Have Big Third Quarter In Win Over Samara

27.01.2009

Dexia Mons-Hainaut broke open a close game at the start of the second half and blew out CSK-VVS Samara in the EuroChallenge Top 16.

Chris Finch's team only led 48-46 near the end of the first half but ended up winning the Group L game 101-85.

Kelvin Torbert's lay-up gave Dexia, beaten finalists in last year's EuroCup, a 50-46 lead at half-time.

The home side then reeled off the first 11 points of the third quarter to take a firm grip on proceedings.

The back-breakers for CSK-VVS were delivered by James Potter, who capped the burst with consecutive three-pointers for a 61-46 Dexia advantage.

By the end of the quarter, Dexia were on top 75-57 and Samara got no closer than 13 the rest of the way.

Caleb Green led Dexia with 21 points while Torbert and Nate Reinking contributed 20 apiece.

Andrew Sullivan, who like Reinking plays for Great Britain national team coach Finch during the summer, had 17 points for Samara.

Dexia out-rebounded Samara 37-24.
