Career: Evreux (France Pro B, 1994-1996), Evreux (France-Pro A, 1996-2000), Nancy (France-Pro A, 2000-02), Leche Rio Breogan Lugo (Spain, Liga-ACB, 2002-…).
Started his career with a Silver Medal at the 1996 U18 European Championship Men. Was then supposed to be the second best player after Jérôme Moïso, but scored only 6.7 ppg (4th top scorer for France) despite obvious talent that impressed NBA scouts. Had a slow but steady development with his hometown team, Evreux, where he ended-up scoring 11.3 ppg in 2000. Played two years for Nancy and won the last ever Korac Cup (in 2002) while scoring 11.4 ppg. Nicknamed “Jo” or “Jogo”, Gomis has always heard a big debate about being a point guard or a shooting guard in a playmaker’s body. Of course, he hates this debate! Has played the past 3 years in Lugo and established himself as a legitimate PG in Europe’s top league. Will likely be the first back-up for Parker. |
