Opening Day Preview: Groups E - H

05 November 2012

15. Christopher Young (Okapi Aalstar)
Christopher Young was the top rebounder for Okapi Aalstar in the last EuroChallenge season

Old foes Mons-Hainaut and Okapi Aalstar have very little to hide from each other.

The two sides met just ten days before Tuesday's clash, albeit in Aalst, and Mons-Hainaut rode out 82-78 winners with Jonathan Wallace scoring 21 points on 5-of-6 shots from three-point range.

Elsewhere in the group, BCMU Pitesti go up against Paris-Levallois in Romania. Read the Game of the Week preview here.

BC Timisoara beat fellow EuroChallenge side Pitesti 82-76 at home on Saturday to improve to 4-3 in the Romanian LNB.

On Tuesday they play host to Lami-Véd Körmend who have had a lacklustre start in the Hungarian league with just two victories in six games.

Two teams that are looking to put unfortunate weekend results behind them as fast as possible meet in the other game of the group one hour later.

EWE Baskets Oldenburg suffered a 90-57 defeat at Bonn in the German BEKO Bundesliga and they will look to bounce back against Szolnoki Olaj, last year's EuroChallenge Final Four hosts.

The Hungarians succumbed to a painful fifth loss in the Adriatic League, 101-73 to Red Star in Belgrade.

Pizza Express Apollon have yet to get off the mark in the Cypriot league after two games and they receive SLUC Nancy who are in a similar position in the French Pro A.

Nancy are bottom of the standings in their domestic league with just one win in five games.

The exact opposite applies to Gravelines-Dunkerque, who defeated Le Havre 75-66 on Saturday to join Le Mans at the summit of the French Pro A.

Dunkerque are playing host to Tsmoki Minsk, the reigning Belarusian champions who are participating in the EuroChallenge for the fourth consecutive year.

5. Chris Ensminger (Telekom Baskets)
Chris Ensminger and the Telekom Baskets Bonn have boosted their confidence with a big win at the weekend

Port of Antwerp Giants have had a troubling start to their domestic season with three losses in five games, the latest a 74-61 home defeat to Telenet Oostende on Saturday.

They are hosting a Telekom Baskets Bonn side who have had a major morale injection over the weekend, following a triumphant 90-57 victory over EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the German BEKO Bundesliga.

The other game in the group takes place on Wednesday and sees Armia travel to Israel to take on Hapoel Unet Holon.

The Georgian champions have only seen action twice so far in their national league and won both games.

The Israeli side on the other hand have had a very good start to their domestic campaign winning four of their first five games to go top of the standings.

Hapoel's latest success was at home on the weekend, as they defeated Bnei Hasharon 91-79 with Tyler Smith and Jerome Dyson scoring 19 points each.
