The Belgians ended the game with a 10-2 run and received only one basket in the last 4:46, when Chiara Terenzi scored a jump-shot for Italy to cut the lead to four points, 57-53 with one minute to go.

Then, Antonia Delaere with a jump-shot and Julie Vanloo with two free throws sealed an important victory for Belgium.

Emma Meesseman was again the queen of Belgium. The 1.92m center dominated the boards and finished with an impressive double-double, 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Delaere added 13 points and Vanloo nine.

Italy had a slow start and they were down by 12 with 3:43 to the end of the first quarter.

But they had a big second quarter and almost leveled the score at halftime, 29-27 for Belgium.

The two teams went head to head during the third period and the beginning of the fourth, but in the end Italy couldn't hold on anymore and crashed.

Francesca Dotto had 13 points, two rebounds and two steals, while her twin sister, Caterina, added 7 points and 6 rebounds.

Terenzi was the only other Italian player in double digits, with 10 points.

Italy will fight Ukraine to avoid the classification games while Belgium will meet Serbia in a clash for the first place of Group C.
