Giacomo Galanda

Career: Verona (Italy-Lega, 1993-97), Fortitudo Bologna (Italy-Lega, 1997-98), Varese (Italy-Lega, 1998-99), Fortitudo Bologna (Italy-Lega, 1999-2003), Siena (Italy-Lega, 2003-05), Milano (Italy-Lega, 2005-06), Varese (Italy-Lega, 2006-07)

Galanda has been team captain since 2003 due to his long history with the National Team, which started in 1997 with a EuroBasket silver medal. The Udine native has a deadly three-point shooting stroke combined with an array of moves in the high-post. As a result, the opposition must guard him with quicker players. And in that situation, Giacomo can use his turnaround close to the basket, taking advantage of his 2.10 m. He is also a solid defender, a skill he will probably be asked to display this EuroBasket as he spends time playing next to Bargnani.  Last summer Galanda retuned to Varese, eight years after his 1999 Lega winning season.
