Italy Coach Postpones Squad Decision

18 August 2003

Italy coach Carlo Recalcati has delayed the naming of his squad for next month’s European Championships until later in the week.

He was expected to select the players to travel to Sweden after Italy's game against Israel on Sunday.

The Italians won 78-71 against Israel for their second victory of the Strasbourg tournament in which they have also defeated Lithuania and lost in overtime to France.

Recalcati's 12-strong team for Eurobasket 2003 is unlikely to include any surprise names.
The championships begin on September 5, with the French first up for Italy.
