Italy Must Learn Their Lessons - Lambruschi

Italy's women must go back to the drawing board after failing to qualify for next month's EuroBasket.

Their 75-58 defeat in Aalst by Belgium last week sealed the Azzurre's fate in the additional qualifying round.

Italy Fight Back

Italy's women know they need a miracle to qualify for EuroBasket 2005 but they have shown great improvement in the additional qualifying games.

Following a poor start to the tournament with a defeat against the Slovak Republic, Gianni Lambruschi's team appear to have made amends.

Eurobasket Boosts Women's Game In Italy

Italy's basketball supremo has hailed the 2007 European Championships for Women as an opportunity to revive women's hoops in the country.

The men's game is thriving on the international stage, with the Italian men having captured the European title in 1999, then bronze at the 2003 Eurobasket before snatching silver at the Olympics in August. Women's basketball, however, has suffered in recent years with the national team's young and inexperienced side unable to qualify for the European tournament since 1999.
