|Italy Head Coach Nino Molino had to face the moment every coach hates - tell players that they have not made the final squad|
Giorgia Canestrari, Alice Richter, Valentina Primossi and Irene Pieropan were the unlucky four to be cut from Italy's final squad for the U20 European Championship for Women.
Coach Nino Molino admits it's the most unpleasant part of the job for a coach, telling players after weeks of preparations that they won't be travelling for the tournament.
He made the decision after a warm-up tournament in Caorle.
"This is always a difficult time," Molino said.
"But after announcing the decision to the team, we spoke to each of the four girls individually to explain the reasons for our choices."
Italy will play in Group C in Zrenjanin against Belarus, Netherlands and France.
"We leave for Novi Sad with confidence," Molino said.
"The players have improved over time and have corrected some mistakes that were made in Pesaro during the scrimmage with Poland."
Italy squad: Elena Bestagno, Giulia Leva, Irene Cigliani, Valeria De Pretto, Tayara Madonna, Federica Nannucci, Virginia Galbiati, Alessandra Pastorino, Giulia Rulli, Laura Spreafico, Federica Tognalini and Alessandra Tava.
