Team 2010-11: New Orleans Hornets (USA-NBA) Career: Virtus Bologna (Italy-Lega, 2002-03), Fortitudo Bologna (Italy-Lega,2003-07), Golden State Warriors (USA-NBA, 2007-2009), Toronto Raptors (USA-NBA, 2009-10), New Orleans Hornets (USA-NBA, 2010-11)
Marco Belinelli was the stand-out player for Italy four years ago at EuroBasket 2007 when aged just 21, he lit the tournament up with some terrific performances. Since then, he has spent four seasons in the NBA and this past year has been a breakthrough one for him since it is the first time he has managed to make it to the post season. He went from being a back-up player on a Raptors team looking to rebuild to being a regular starting member of a play-off team and managed to showcase his three-point shooting skills to great effect to finish with double digit points per game for the first time in his NBA career. For the National Team he will be just as influential as his performances last summer during qualifying clearly bear out. Not only will he be a scorer, he will also do a good job on the glass due to his leaping ability and will come up with his fair share of assists too. |
