Israel and Great Britain started the U20 European Championship for Women Division B with convincing victories in opening day action in FYR of Macedonia.
Israel opened Group A play with a strong 62-44 victory over Greece. Naama Shafir had 19 points, six assists and five steals while Shira Shecht came off the bench for 19 points in 16 minutes.
Greece, who turned the ball over 33 times, did not have a player in double figure scoring with two players hitting for seven points.
Also in Group A, Portugal held off Slovakia 72-68 with Sofia Da Silva scoring 21 points while Maria Correira added 13 points.
Veronika Cernkova tallied 20 points while Maria Felixova collected 15 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort with Alexandra Baburova adding 12 points.
In Group B, Great Britain allowed just six points in the first quarter en route to a 61-42 victory over Belgium.
Katrin Chiemeka led the way with 15 points and Mary Durojaye added 10 points.
Belgians Emmanuella Mayombo and Miete Celus both each scored 12 points in the loss.
The Czech Republic also booked a win in Group B, beating Hungary 81-72 with four players scoring in double figures.
Alena Hanusova had 17 points, Adela Filarova scored 16 points, Dana Kuslitova added 14 points and Petra Zaplatova chipped in 10.
Hungary were led by Emese Kovalcsik with 19 points while Dominika Gergely had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Alexandra Theodorean added 12 points.
