Swiss All Over Ireland
Ireland opened their European campaign with a 86 – 58 defeat to Switzerland in the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght on Saturday.
 
Switzerland with Thabo Sefolosha in their ranks started the first quarter brightly with the Chicago Bulls star proving a particular thorn in Ireland’s side.

Ireland Get Past Cyprus

Ireland trailed by six at half-time but then put forth a devastating third-quarter effort and used that as a platform for 76-70 victory against Cyprus.

In a battle of winless teams, Cyprus led by as many as 10 points in the first half but after holding a 44-38 advantage at half-time, they caved in.

Gurr Shellshocked By Hapless Ireland

Ireland coach Greg Gurr was left embarrassed after his side suffered a convincing 81-62 defeat by Romania in their EuroBasket qualifier at the weekend.

Romania had downed Cyprus 79-64 in their opening Group A game while Ireland had narrowly lost 59-57 to Switzerland, and Saturday's match in Dublin went to form thanks to a superb team display by the visitors.
