Ireland hit a couple of bumps in the road last week at the start of their EuroBasket Women Division B campaign but they still prevailed over Slovenia.
After suffering a 12-point defeat to Montenegro, Sasa Punosevac stepped down as Irish boss due to personal reasons and was replaced by Montenotte Hotel Cork boss Mark Scannell.
He tasted victory in his first game, a 67-59 triumph.
Michelle Aspell was particularly effective, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds for Ireland and Scannell said to IrishSportTV: "We have some very good players over here.
"Michelle Aspell was awesome. Michelle Fahy and Susan Moran were fighting inside against people three or four inches taller than them and did a fantastic job on the boards. Our guards, our young people coming in - it was a fantastic night for us."
Ireland improved to 1-1 with the victory and will now travel to Switzerland with a bounce in their step.
"We'll try to get some momentum going," Scannell said. "We're in good shape after this. We'll try to take this with us to Switzerland."
