| 29.08.2009 Montenegro rolled to their 10th straight victory in EuroBasket Women Division B with a 77-62 win at Iceland on Saturday.
Jelena Skerovic had 13 points to lead the Montenegrins, who stormed out to a 19-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. Iceland ended their A Group campaign at 2-8. Ireland surprised the Netherlands 67-62, winning for the sixth time in 10 games. Susan Moran finished with 13 points and five boards for the Irish. The Dutch had already sewn up second place and a spot in the play-offs with Montenegro. Naomi Halman scored 10 points and grabbed six boards for the Netherlands. Karen Twehues poured in 23 points as Switzerland prevailed on Saturday, 72-65, over Slovenia (3-7). The Swiss nevertheless ended their campaign at 2-8 and in last place in the A Group.
In the last game of Group B Estonia defeated Luxembourg with ease. The Baltic country got 19 points and 11 rebounds from Viive-Kai Rebane and Merike Anderson scored 20 while collecting seven boards. Estonia ended their campaign with two victories and four defeats while Luxembourg finished 0-6. |
