Steinarsson is one of the quickest players on the Icelandic squad. He is great defending other point guards and very quick bringing the ball up the court. After a great start to his career in Iceland with his club and with Iceland's youth national teams, he played in college in the United States and since then, he has been playing pro in Sweden. Steinarsson was disappointed having to watch from the side-lines for the previous two qualification campaigns, with injuries reducing him to an onlooker. But he has now recovered and is dedicated to fighting for a spot on the team this year. The last time he played with the national team was in 2011, when he performed at the highest level in his maiden senior international appearances.
