Germany, Hungary, Slovakia Yet To Taste Defeat

On the final day of the Preliminary Round of U16 European Championship Women Division B, Germany tabbed yet another clear win to remain perfect.

In Skopje, the Germans defeated Ukraine , who have yet to win, 76-41 and advanced into the Qualifying Round as the winner of Group D.

Germany had three players that finished with 12 points. After every quarter the gap between them and Ukraine got bigger.

With the loss of Ukraine both Ireland and Israel qualified automatically. Israel beat the Irish by 22 points (55-33) to secure an important win over an other Qualifying Round team.

Germany, Israel and Ireland are to face the Slovak Republic, England and Romania in Group F. The Slovaks outclassed Romania 79-56 in the final game of Group C while England crushed hosts F.Y.R. of Macedonia 66-40.

In Group B Latvia clinched the first spot despite a 39-43 loss to Slovenia while Luxembourg could not match Denmark (42-78).

Hungary finished as the best team in Group A after they beat out Portugal (63-57) in the race for the first place. A strong third quarter built the foundation for Hungary's win. Switzerland got hammered by Bulgaria (45-70) and failed to tab their first win of the competition.

Switzerland will face Luxembourg, FYR of Macedonia and Ukraine in the Classification Round. Meanwhile Qualifying Round Group E will include Hungary, Portugal, Bulgaria as well as Denmark, Slovenia and Latvia.
