Another towering display of 23 points and 16 rebounds by forward Brigitta Barta wasn't enough to prevent Hungary from falling to a crushing 74-54 loss to Russia and being dumped into the Classification round to fight for their Division A status. While disappointing, it left Hungary coach Ezster Debreceni bemoaning her lack of inside presence to support her star player although she also claimed that Barta still had some improvement to make, despite her big numbers. |

Hungary survived an almighty final quarter scare to see off the Czech Republic 67-64 and get their tournament off to a winning start, thanks mainly to a stellar display from Brigitta Barta. The power forward was just about unstoppable for three quarters of the game although having led by as many as 23 points, the star admitted that she couldn't fathom why her team took their foot off the pedal in the closing stages. |
