Afroditi Kosma

Career: Ermis Peramatos (1995-1998, Greece-Local division), Atromitos Pireaus (1998-2000, Greece-Local division), Akadimia 75 (Greece-A1, 2000-07)

Kosma is considered to be the successor of current captain Polymnia Saregou on the Greek frontline.  The 24-year-old is great in transition, while her ability to drive to the hole reminds people of a guard. Kosma is also a solid defender and rebounds the basketball well.  Nicknamed “Afro”, Kosma has one weakness in that she needs to put on weight to become a more solid presence in the paint. Her first call from the National Team came in the summer of  2003, ahead of Greece’ s EuroBasket Women 2003 campaign. But she was not included in the final squad by ex-National Team coach Giorgos Tsitskaris. Her dream came true two years later in Turkey at EuroBasket Women 2005. In the 2006-07 season, Kosma averaged 12.6 points and 8.4 rebounds with Akadimia 75 in the A1.
