Ioannidis Trims Roster


Greece coach Yiannis Ioannidis, whose side will play in the Akropolis Tournament at the Glyfada sports hall in Athens this week has cut two players as he looks to finalise his European Championships roster.

Yiorgos Diamantopoulos and Lazaros Papadopoulos have been released from international duty and will not travel to the Eurobasket in Sweden next month.

Greece, among the favourites to win gold in Scandinavia, face Poland on Monday, Israel on Tuesday and then finish the Akropolis Tournament on Wednesday with a friendly against Slovenia.

Greece's current squad of 14 players is: Sigalas, Papaloukas, Alvertis, Papanikolaou, Diamantidis, Tsartsaris, Charissis, Kakiouzis, Fotsis, Chatzivrettas, Papaioakim, Makedonikos, Schortsianitis, Glyniadakis, Rentzias, Tsakalidis.
