Career: GHP Bamberg (Germany-BBL, 1997-2005), Fortitudo Bologna (Italy-Lega, left in Dec. 2006), Brose Baskets Bamberg (Germany-BBL,2006-08), Alba Berlin (Germany-BBL, 2008-10), FC Bayern Muenchen (Germany-2.Bundesliga, 2010-11)
A steady and defensive-minded player favoured strongly by coach Bauermann who demonstrated this by recruiting him for his club side Bayern Munich. It was the third time that Bauermann has coached him and he continues to be a terrific servant for the National Team as he draws closer to an entire decade with them. Another experienced player who has the ability to show leadership on the floor, he certainly knows how to get the job done. What he naturally lacks on offence in terms of natural scoring ability and an outside threat, he makes up for with his ability to penetrate to the basket and find his team-mates. At the defensive end of the floor and in all-round hustle situations, there are few better. Bauermann knows what he gets with Hamann and trusts him implicitly, hence he averaged almost 24 minutes per game at the FIBA World Championship last summer and it would be a surprise if he didn't land his usual major role at EuroBasket 2011.
