Germany brought Bulgaria crashing down to earth at the OSTCHEM U20 European Championship Women with a 68-57 Group E triumph on Tuesday.
The Bulgarians, who won all three of their games in the initial group stage, fell behind by 13 points near the end of the first half but fought bravely and made the contest close in the fourth period.
Ivayla Tomova's three-pointer with 6:01 to play closed the gap to 54-53, but Romy Bär replied immediately for the Germans who went on an 8-0 run to reclaim control.
Anna-Christine Görg of Germany led all scorers with 25 points while Ekaterina Dimitrova had 22 for Bulgaria.
Bulgaria face Spain on Wednesday while Germany take on France.
