Vladimir Pichkurov poured in 24 points as Russia remained perfect in Group C of the U18 European Championship for Men with a hard-fought 83-73 victory over Germany.
Sergey Palkin added 19 points and Andrey Semenov chipped in 11 points for Alexey Vadeev's team, which improved to 2-0 wihle dropping Germany to 1-1.
A day after knocking off France, Kay Bluemel's Germans committed 24 turnovers and lost despite 19 points from Maik Zirbes, 13 from Maurice Stuckey and 11 each by Alex Schrempf and Erik Land.

Germany held close with Russia trailing just 11-9 when Vadeev's team hit from long range and got into the transition for a 17-4 run and a 28-13 lead. The Russians pushed the advantage to 37-20 after one period and it was up to a 21-point margin - 47-36 - midway through the second before Germany went into the changing rooms down 51-39.
Bluemel's Germans did not score in the first five minutes of the second half as Pichkurov guided Russia back to a 17-point gap and a 67-50 lead going into the fourth. Maxim Grigoryev's three-pointer to start the fourth made it a 20-point game again. Russia led 71-54 with seven minutes left and it was still 75-63 after Pichkurov's three-ball. But Germany used a final push sparked by Schrempf and Stuckey to cut the deficit to 79-70 with less than two minutes left. But Pichkurov's steal and break-away lay-up sealed the victory.
