Enterprise BC Dynamo routed Steaua-Turabo 88-60 in Tuesday night's EuroChallenge opener for both sides. In the Group F encounter, the visitors from Romania had an early 4-2 lead when a pair of Russian internationals helped Dynamo take command for good. Evgeny Voronov came up with a steal and scored on a fastbreak to tie the game and Enterprise then got a basket from Nikita Shabalkin before Dmitriy Khvostov drilled a three-ball. Vasily Zavoruev capped the early spurt with another shot from long range that gave Sergey Bazarevich's team a 12-4 lead. Voronov and Khvostov both played at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey this summer and helped Russia reach the Quarter-Finals. Two Khvostov free-throws late in the first quarter extended the lead to 20-11 and when he sank two more late in the second, the advantage ballooned to 47-32. Enterprise blew out the visitors in the second half for a resounding victory. Vasily Zavoruev had 23 points, Shabalkin 20 and Khvostov 19 for the winners. Virgil Stanescu poured in 20 in a losing effort. |
