2nd-Quarter Burst Propels Atomerömü To Win

Atomerömü SE rode their home-court advantage to victory over BC NN in the EuroChallenge Group D clash on Tuesday.

The second quarter was decisive for the Hungarians, who outscored their Russian counterparts 22-9 in the frame and used that as a platform for an 83-72 triumph.

Donald Cole poured in 19 points and Atomerömü teammates Lorenzo Williams and David Vojvoda chipped in 16 apiece.

The game was tied at 22-22 at the start of the second quarter when Cole connected from behind the arc.

Williams followed with a lay-up and then Cole struck again from long range for a 30-22 Atomerömü lead.

When Ferdinánd Morgen's three-ball ripped the nets with 5:11 to go in the first half, the hosts were in front by nine and the lead grew to 42-28 when Morgen scored again, this time with a jumper inside the arc.

Russian international Semen Antonov had 11 points and Michal Ignerski 13 at the break, but BC NN trailed 44-31.

Atomerömü went in front by as many as 16 points in the third quarter and though BC NN continued to battle, they got no closer than eight in the fourth period.
