French Great "Le Roi" Retires

France captain and Pamesa Valencia player Antoine Rigaudeau has decided to call it quits.

Rigaudeau came out of international retirement to help the French team capture the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2005, which they accomplished on Sunday by beating Spain in Belgrade.

Bergeaud Aiming To Keep Team Spirit

France coach Claude Bergeaud fears it will be difficult to recreate the team spirit engendered by his side during the recent EuroBasket 2005.

Les Bleus recovered from an indifferent start to the competition, which saw them lose to Greece and Slovenia in the group stage, to oust host nation Serbia & Montenegro and defending champions Lithuania.

After 46 years, the French basketball team can finally return home from a EuroBasket with some hardware.

Tony Parker was magnificent with  25 points and five assists, Mickael Pietrus added 23 and France crushed Spain 98-63 to win bronze at the 2005 EuroBasket and bring home the country's first medal in the competition since 1959.
