PLAYER HISTORY
Alain Digbeu

Career: ASVEL (France-Pro A, 1991-99), F.C. Barcelona (Spain-ACB, 1999-2002), Real Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2002-03), Joventut Badalona (Spain-ACB, 2003-04), Pallacanestro Varese (Italy-Lega, 2004-05), Etosa Alicante (2005-…). Drafted in the second round of the 1998 NBA draft (#50), by the Atlanta Hawks.

Comes from a basketball family since his father was a pretty good player at amateur level. Brother Mickaël played a little bit as a pro, and now his little sister, Jennifer, is in the Under-18 NT. Started and played for 8 consecutive years with ASVEL. MVP of the French league in 1998, Alain was selected by the Hawks in the draft that same year. Left for Barcelona in 1999. There, his great leaping ability gave him the nickname “Air France”. Liga ACB champion in 2002. Until he signed with Alicante, last spring, he only played for teams that had won a European crown (Joventut, Real and Varese)… Put aside his offensive game while at Real and Barça, although he can be a pretty good scorer when needed (14.4 ppg with Varese last season shooting 41% from 3-pt range). Has had some bad experiences with the NT, but has become a much more mature, charming and interesting human being since he turned 30.
