Deja Vu, France Top Russia Again For Gold

France held on against never-say-die Russia to win the gold medal at the EuroBasket Women on Saturday night in Latvia.

After the disappointment of an eighth-place finish in 2007, Pierre Vincent's team capped a remarkable comeback to the top of Europe with a 57-53 win over Russia in the championship game.

Gruda, Dumerc Highlight All-Tournament Team

The 2009 EuroBasket Women champions Sandrine Gruda and Celine Dumerc of France headed the All-Tournament Team in Riga along with Most Valuable Player winner Evanthia Maltsi of Greece.

Gruda led the champions France in scoring (15.4 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg) while shooting 50 percent from the field.
