A member of the France team which took third place at the U20 European Championship in 2011, Lauvergne will look for a competitive senior debut at EuroBasket 2013. He began in the junior systems at ASVEL and Clermont Ferrand before attending INSEP. His professional debut came with Chalon, where he won the French Cup in 2011, and then the French championship and Cup double in 2012. Following a short spell with Valencia, he joined Partizan Belgrade in December 2012 and helped the side to win the Serbian and Adriatic League titles, playing beside fellow Frenchman Léo Westermann. He was selected 55th in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies but his rights were traded to the Denver Nuggets.
